Read this first — your computer will warn you

These builds are not yet code-signed, so macOS and Windows treat them as unrecognised software. The warnings are expected and do not mean the download failed.

macOS — "AI Tutor is damaged and can't be opened"

  1. Open the .dmg and drag AI Tutor to Applications.
  2. In Applications, right-click AI Tutor and choose Open (do not double-click).
  3. Click Open in the dialog. You only do this once.

Still blocked? In Terminal: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/AI Tutor.app"

Windows — "Windows protected your PC"

  1. Unzip the folder, then run AI-Tutor.exe.
  2. On the blue SmartScreen dialog click More info, then Run anyway.

First launch

The first start takes a few minutes — it sets up its database and loads the language model. Later launches are quick. The app opens in its own window; there is nothing to configure.

Running it for a whole school?

The desktop app teaches one student on one computer. To run the full platform — teacher dashboards, student accounts, a shared curriculum — install it on a server instead.
